Video: Condition Monitoring for Process Applications

The simplest and most cost-effective way to implement a condition monitoring system is for it to be fully integrated into the existing control system, especially in hazardous environments. This demo shows how.

This Beckhoff condition monitoring demo shows how you can apply PC-based control technology for condition monitoring in hazardous areas common to the process industries. It shows how signals from the field can be acquired by our intrinsically safe ELX series EtherCAT Terminals, processed in real time on our PC-based machine controllers and then displayed immediately on Ex-rated CPX Control Panels. While the video shows a mixing tank, the principles could be applied across numerous process industry applications.

Through a fully integrated approach, condition monitoring systems can overcome the common challenges of interoperability, computing power and data handling, and incomplete solutions. Engineers across industries can use these advantages to implement a more comprehensive condition-based monitoring (CBM) program. Not only does this enhance performance and predictive maintenance capabilities, but it also reduces costs and downtime in the long run.

The demo was filmed at the company's Process Industry Technical Center in Houston, Texas. At this office, we focus on New Automation Technology for offshore, oil and gas, alternative energy and other other process industry applications.
